The Latest Charm Bracelet Fashion Trends

As a little girl to receive your first charm bracelet was to bring delight to the heart.  The round gold and silver links which many dangling charms were fastened to were worn and shown off with joy. To be able to peruse the various charms in the glass cases at the jewelry stores and pick your favorites, an exciting, enjoyable adventure.

Although, fading interest led to the decline of this type of bracelet in the late twentieth century, it was revived by the introduction of the dangling Italian charm bracelet.

In 2001, a different type of Italian charm bracelet was developed.  Flat, modular, individual links were joined together on a protracted band to create a single bracelet.  They were stainless steel, gold plated or had an 18K gold surface. The charms were snapped onto the eighteen links either by soldering or glue.  A stunning, fun or touching image was featured on the face of each charm. The symbols were customized through photo and picture charms.  New photo technology has allowed for the image to be embedded into an enamel overlay for clarity and beauty.  Laser engraving of special insignias or initials can be standard black or a sharper black, white or gold etching due to the latest advancements. Enamel painting on porcelain, another innovative design, a precious addition to a bracelet.  The choices can be as varied and dynamic as the people who wear them, family themes, pet photos, birthstones, hobbies, special occasions, a keepsake worn over a lifetime.

Leather slide and crystal letter bracelets which have several colored band choices display names or initials and are another version of the Italian charm bracelet.

In 2002, the European charm bracelet garnered attention.   Beads or charms were placed on modular chains in gold, silver or murano glass.  A more modern interpretation of the popular style from the past, exquisite in its intricacy.

The tube bangle, several delicate thin tubes of silver offsets chosen charms to perfection.

The rope chain in braided gold or silver or a black rope entwined through a chain with a single charm, vintage or contemporary is an appealing style of the day.  Along with a ribbon wrapped around the wrist with one or two charms laced into the striking mesh.

A novel rendition of a time honored tradition which will hopefully retain its popularity and remain a treasured memento of things well-loved.

May we continue to peer through that glass window and put finger marks on the case for many generations to come.
